CONAIE denounces both Erdogan and the violence of his bodyguards

CONAIE is the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, Ecuador's main indigenous organization composed of the Kichwa, Shuar, Achuar, Huaorani, Awa or epera nations among others.

In a communique released yesterday, CONAIE categorically rejects the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdogan as an official guest of the Ecuadorian government, which is responsible for the harassment, repression and political persecution of the Kurdish people and its organizational political expressions.

CONAIE describes the Kurdish people struggle as "not only for the reconstruction of the territory and the Kurdish nation, but for the liberation of the peoples of the Middle East of oppression and war, the most beautiful expression of the strength of women and a people for the construction of a new world without inequality, with democracy and plurinational in practice, as they face both the Turkish state and as the Islamic State in defense of their territories and their freedoms."

The Confederation also dennounces the violence used by the Erdogan's Turkish security team against Equatorian demonstrators, broken the nose of one MP, DiegoVintimilla as well as wounding several women.
